cross with men working

You can take control of your economic future by applying divine principles that businessmen have been using since antiquity to become successful. Once you align your company, business, and finances with these biblical principles you can not only build a successful Christian business, but everything you put your hand to do shall prosper.

These tried and proven principles of believing, trusting and honoring God with your wealth must be followed, by anyone who desires to become a successful Christian businessman.

Three Key Principles For Christian Businessmen

Trust...recognize that God is omnipotent and delights in the prosperity of his people, by allowing him to direct your steps through his Word , his spirit and his power. Ps. 37-3-4

Honor...give your time, talent and treasure to building his kingdom. Mat 6:33

Belief...confess with your mouth and believe in your heart that Jesus is Lord.Rm 10 9-10

How Christian Can Achieve Financial Freedom

These scriptural views should be considered the Basic Instructions for Businessmen, Leaders and Entrepreneurs.

Talk radio host and author Dave Ramsey, overcame millions of dollars of debt using these principles. Now he uses his nationally syndicated talk show as a platform to provide Biblically based business principles, common sense education and empowerment to gives hope to others.

These instructions were part of the law given to Moses for the children of Israel to follow however, their usage predate the Mosaic Law and are still in full force and effect in the present century.

Since we inherited the promise that was given to Abraham, we can expect whatever principles that worked for him, to work for us. And what distinguished Abraham from other people in his day, was how he honored, trusted and believed God's Word.

How Christian Businesses Can Prosper in Tough Economic Cycles

I'm sure some of you out there have been saying baugh humbug, to these biblical principles, for business success, mainly because you think giving is a burden and you can't afford to give, a bother, or unnecessary, don't be blinded to the truth.

The Bible clearly says that if you fail to follow this teaching you are a robbing God . During tough economic cycles having your mug shot posted in heaven with the word thief across the top, is not be a desirable strategy to follow.

Let me wrap this post up with one last thought.

You wouldn't think twice about tipping a waitress more than 10 percent for excellent service, but you have a problem giving to God who manages your health, finances, your future a measly 10 percent, Ummgh?

God's kingdom is built on trust and results, so it's important to have your finances, business and future well grounded and firmly rooted in his Word, because only the things you do for God will testify of your commitment to the kingdom.

How Christian Businessmen Can Turn Problems into Opportunities

stacks of cash

Christian businessmen should take their advice from the Apostle Paul when it come to handling problems in their business. When he was brought before King Agrippa (Acts 26:1-32) on bogus charges of being an agitator, he didn’t hesitate to turn his problem into an opportunity.

Slow sales hamper many companies. During recessions, Christian Businessmen should view these cycles as opportunities to focus on improving their sales process.

I recently read how the people over at House of Jerky overcame challenges with their brick and mortar sales by enhancing their online business. This strategy enabled them to beat the current recession.

Referrals helped their store sales to grow 15-percent. Their biggest results came by focusing on the amount of business they were doing online. They managed to double their online sales by taking advantage of some search engine optimization techniques.

Embracing technology and focusing on SEO, the front end of your online sales is something every Christian business owners should take the opportunity to investigate, to augment their traditional sales.

Slow sales cycles will always come and go. It’s what you do during that time that will matter the most when sales do start to pick up, if you plan for your business to still be around when it’s over.

The reminder to “never criticize anyone” has turned out to be wise parental advice, according to Richard Branson of Virgin Group. An article in Businessweek, mentions this pearl and a few others from moms that are credited with influencing several successful businesspeople.

There are other resources Christian Businessmen can use when they are running short of motherly advice and need some hard facts to guide their business.
Good research is essential for entrepreneurs that need to gather specific data about their marketing niche.

There are plenty of resources on the Internet that offer outstanding information for getting started in business. However, most of them only cover some of the issues that Christian’s in business encounter. Let me tell you about some of the websites I’ve found that cover more than, just the tip of the iceberg of information, useful in targeting the Christian market.

Statistics on Religion & Public Life

U S religious survey

The Pew Forum on Religion and Public Life provides a full report on the religious composition of the United States. They collect demographic data on Christians and various other religious group, documenting their ethnicity, education and income levels.

Faith Communities Today (FACT) is another place where you can access information on the heart and soul of religion in America. This site is a joint effort from researchers who’re trying to paint a statistical picture of local congregations at the beginning of a new millennium and offer ways to strengthen and enhance the mission of these congregations.

Their data is slightly dated but much of what you’ll find is still useful and relevant on the Christian market. You can also get a complimentary copy of their July 2005 inaugural issue free.

I have gone through the sites that I frequent and added a few new resources that are helpful for anyone starting a Christian oriented business or for Christian’s who own their own business.

How To use Spiritual Laws to Impact Your Success

We all have a choice, whether or not to use our spiritual resources to enhance our business skills. Successful Christian businessmen have the discipline to practice biblical principals which harness the power of God to build their business.
If you plan to start your own business, identify situations where you can utilize spiritual tools to strengthen your company. There are spiritual laws at work (Rm 8:26-27) in today’s world as well as physical laws, for instance the law of gravity keeps us tethered to the ground. There are spiritual laws that govern what happens when Christians speak.

What Christians Should Know About These Important Laws

We have to carefully select the words that we say about our circumstances, because they have a causative effect on our life.

Have you ever noticed people who are constant complainers, cynical and depressed, always have plenty of problems to gripe about. When you are experiencing a bad day do you make it a point to tell everyone around you how bad things are going or do you encourage yourself with words and ideas to make things better?

I recently heard a story about a group of sales managers that met for lunch whose daily habit was to talk about how bad their salesman were doing. One manager decided that he would change what he was saying about his team. He started declaring, by faith, that his sales were getting better. It wasn’t long before his salesman started outselling his competition.

A Law That Will Improve Your Thoughts

Christians that have read James(3:3-6) know we should guard what we think and say, for the tongue sets the course of our lives. Philippians tell us that whatsoever things are of good report; if there be any virtue, and if there be any praise, think on these things.

If your words are shaping your life, what kind of future have you created for yourself today? Have you been thinking that you’re successful or saying that your company is going under? You have set in motion the laws that will make those words your destiny.

5 Things Christians Can Do to Build Their Business

The Christian business man’s approach to success is a path that requires a mix of traditional techniques and outside the box thinking, that based on faith. This is not a new paradigm. In 1929 James Cash Penney employed this method(Pr 3:5-6)during the depression.
His belief in the Golden Rule, the biblical principles he followed, was so strong that he gave credit during the depression when it was nearly impossible for customers to repay him. This sent him into bankruptcy, but he continued to practice the Godly principals, and rebuilt the J.C. Penny empire.

Five business building tools

Build a network of contacts in your industry that are Christians who are willing to assist you. These can be members from your church, chamber of commerce, suppliers or any one in your industry that is knowledgeable about your field of interest.

Build a portfolio. This is not just for artist and writers. If you do landscaping or give seminars, you need some samples of your work to show that you are able to get the job done. This also can open the door for more opportunities and a chance to learn to use some of the special features on the software and digital cameras that you should already own.

Develop your leadership and management skills(Pr 10:14). Even when you are strapped for cash, you can find free classes. Small business development centers and community colleges are just a few of the places where you can find low cost business courses and other training.

Reach out to others in your field. You should be having fun and making friends whether you’re in line getting a permit, attending a retreat or a convention. They are ideal places to meet other positive, happy and creative people, in your field, to share ideas with.
Pray to meet people you can help and those who can help you over time(Pr 11:25).

Find a mentor. We all should seek help to shorten the learning curve. Mentors that are Christians can also tell you how to stay on track spiritually and help you find answers to those tough questions that come with business.

Using Faith to Succeed

I’ve detailed these 5 steps to help Christians in their business or career (Pr 16:3). They are practical things that everyone can use, but Christians experience an extra benefit by praying for God’s guidance and favor to maximize them.

Do you view your faith as a fork in the road to a profitable business, or do you feel it shouldn’t be considered as a tool for success.
