As the summer winds down there seems to be no end to all of the rain in the past few weeks.
Anyone that saw the recent news report about the accident on I-10 at Federal Rd has to see that life is not only precious but realize that like the old song says one day you're here the next day you're gone.
My heart goes out to the mother and child that were killed in this accident and my prayer is that the family is able to stay strong.

This weekend was full of excitement in H-Town...... This weekend was full of excitement in H-Town... If you weren't lucky enough to catch Dialogue with Ada Edwards on Praise 92.1FM Saturday morning then let me give you taste of what you missed out on. Keith Summerfield (St. Johns UMC) shared about his experiences as a young African American man who doesn't feel the need dress to impress, but that it's what's on the inside of a mans' heart that makes the real difference....after all it's not the clothes that make the man, but the man that makes the clothing look good or bad. Dr. Annette M. Howard...told how stress can become difficult to manage without proper care for your physical well being....high blood pressure diabetes are just a few of the ailments that stress can trigger....cost of treating these maladies are climbing to over $300 billion annually. IN THE WARD........ Everyone needs to be familiar with the HAPS (Home buyers Assistance Program).... They provide $ 19,500 to $34,000 down payment assistance for low to moderate income Houstonians. If you reside or plan to reside in several targeted neighborhoods, you may even be able to buy a new home through this program....just about all of the Wards .... Trinity Gardens and Houston Gardens are places on the list in Northeast Houston... Sunnyside...SouthUnion...or South side communities that are part of this target market. This is all a part of the Homecoming Initiatives, from the Mayor's office , that is trying to improve the city's blighted areas...helping to keep the history of the communities intact while encouraging new growth. SPIRITUALLY SPEAKING....... Real Life 8am to noon (except 7/30 - ALL DAY) (Community) Ongoing Event, Ends 7/31/2007Location: Tes Prep SE Campus This program is geared to help the students realize that the decisions that they are making now going into high school are very important to their future. Program includes financial, career and college planning for 70+ low-income high school students DON'T FORGET.....The Men's Conference this week at New Light ...Pastor Val Adams has an event this week I was in such a hurry that I didn't get to write all of the information down but the next time you pass by Canaan Baptist Church on Lockwood @ 610 you can see it for yourself. Expect to see some new changes and format for this blog in the near future .....until then Pray for me and I'll pray for you ! | by writeonbro | 10:46:00 AM | |||||

Well hope that all is well with you in Space City, TX. Here what happening that everyone should check out this week.
IN THE NICKEL...... stop by the Fifth Ward Redevelopment office and sign up for the classes on using computers and learning how to navigate on the Internet and don't forget to ask about the seminars that are coming up on home buying and business accounting two skills that no brother should be without.
WHILE YOU'RE OUT AND ABOUT........
How long has it been since you attended school...well partner that's too long! I've recently completed enrolling in a couple of classes for the upcoming fall semester (07-08) at HCC. Now is the time to get yourself into gear if you want to enroll in classes of any kind, at any of the local colleges or universities.
Enrollment dates are getting close and in some cases you may have to do some testing before you can start classes. If you start this month you'll be sure to get a seat in the class that you want instead of having to wait for second start. Believe me, if you're not working and just hanging out, there is no better way to update your skill set or add a new one than attending school.
I hope that everyone listens each week to 92.1 on Saturday mornings for the CATFISH, GRITS AND POLITICS SHOW...featuring Councilwoman Ada Edwards and BREAKFAST KLUB'S Marcus Davis from 7 to 10 am. They always have very informative guest and focus on topics that are very relevant in the community. One of the ongoing topics is the cruising that takes place on MLK on Sunday afternoons and why the residents are getting upset.
If that's one of your favorite places on Sunday you may want to check out the show and stay abreast of whats about to happen...because something is about to happen!
SPIRITUALLY SPEAKING
I hope to make it to the Men's' conference that is taking place July15th-19th at New Light. The pastor Bishop I.V.Hilliard is holding a conference like no other conference this city has seen in a longtime. Next year I'll try to make it to the Men's conference at St. Luke's Baptist Church, on West Orem.
well tell next week Peace...........
